Since Peter Walker founded Quad in 1936, all Quad products have displayed originality in design and outstanding audio excellence. A world leader in audio amplifier and electrostatic speaker design, Quad has been recognised by awards from around the world including the Queen's Award for Technological Achievement in 1978 the only one ever presented to an audio hi-fi equipment manufacturer. It is hard to believe that the legendary Quad 11 was discontinued in 1970, yet my own Quad 11 still outperforms many high end amplifies some 45 years on. Our kits use the best current production and NOS valves to help you get the best sound out of these legendary amplifiers.

The KT66 Gold Lion has gained a worldwide reputation for sound quality with Quad owners.

This set features a specially selected quad of Gold Lion KT66 that are in the current range of the famous GEC KT66. It also features a selected set of NOS Tesla EF86 and a selected pair of GZ32 rectifier.

The Gold Lion KT66 re issue has proved excellent valve for all musical applications due to it exceptional imaging and detail. It offers a smooth natural midrange with clean and clear bass response with first class clarity. The top end is very detailed and musical. The bass end is very well controlled with excellent extension and a vice like grip over the sound. Overall this valve produces a beautifully balanced sound.

These valves are all specially burnt in and selected to the same current specifications and current range of the Original GEC KT66 CV 1075. The valves then go through our burst testing process which involves a series of varying timed electrical signal bursts.

This runs the valves under the same stress conditions that they will meet in your amplifier. All output valves are then dual matched by us on current and gain.

We use a prime NOS Czechoslovakian Tesla EF86 with the grey screened barrel anodes plates. This design offers excellent performance in the Quad as it drives the Quad really well.

The valve offers great clarity and gain with low noise levels. Sonically the valves have all speed and dynamics. To complete the package we use a Harma GZ32 that has been designed around the Original Mullard GZ32 with a more compact size but still retains that beautiful shouldered bottle thus retaining the Classic Quad look
