Laney Amplifiers were born in the West Midlands in 1967 by Lyndon Laney. The West Midlands was UK industrial heartland and Lyndon who was playing with The Band of Joy which included John Bonham on drums and Robert Plant on vocals wanted to design amplifiers that sounded different from what was commercially available.

The West Midlands has given us some of the greatest bands and most talented musicians that the UK has ever produced. So it is no surprise that Laney has grown into a multinational company with a loyal and strong customer base.

Laney can be rightly credited with the design of amplifiers that founded Heavy metal as Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath has been a lifelong user of Laney amplifiers. Today, Laney Still works with Black Sabbath and modern artists such as The Prodigy, The Foo Fighters, and Skindred. Laney are the jewel in the crown of UK amplifier manufacture as they continue to product a range of well-designed good sounding amplifiers. Groove Super Premium S Series full upgrade kit is designed to give your amplifier the ideal balance of clean headroom and smooth warm overdrive using a specially selected set of Groove Tubes.

The Groove Tubes Super Premium ECC83S are the selected GT items and in addition to GTs in house testing are specially drive tested by us to ensure even gain and checked for low noise and microphoney.

ECC83S Groove Tube produces a warm even tone with a full rounded bass response. The valve has a medium gain, when compared to many other modern 12AX7 types. This makes it particularly useful to calm down gain channels of high gain amplifiers to keep overdrive and saturation under control. This nice rounded tone makes this a good choice for amplifiers where clarity and warmth are required.

Groove Tubes Super Premium EL84S valves are specially burst tested by us. We take selected GT items and in addition to GTs in house testing and distortion rating on output valves they also undergo our own unique real world burst testing. The burst testing process involves a series of varying timed electrical signal bursts. This runs the valves under the same stress conditions that they will meet in your amplifier. All out put valves are then dual matched by us on current and gain. This will ensure that you get the best selected GT valves available anywhere in the world.

The GT EL84S is Groove tubes most popular EL84 as it offers a warm clean vintage sound. The valve has a clear and even frequency response with a nice open treble response. The bass has a warm rounded sound which is tight and punchy.

This is a great replacement set for those who want a clean and vintage overdriven sound.
