This preamp upgrade kit consists of specially selected Harma Retro valves for Mesa Boogie amplifiers. This set has been designed to give your Mesa more top end transparency and the classic warm tone with rich creamy distortion that many players require out of their Mesa amplifiers.

The pre amplifier valves are specially selected for Mesa amplifiers for low microphonics and gain and the kit includes a balanced valve for the phase inverter position.

The Harma ECC83 Retro is a true sounding recreation of the famous Mullard ECC83. This valve replicates the warm detail and harmonically rich midrange that made the Mullard sound so famous.

The outstanding feature of the Harma Retro valve is that when it is overdriven it provides a warm sustaining sound with plenty of upper harmonics. This combined with its smooth linear 3 dimensional midrange response and extended low frequency response means you get smooth fat warm overdrive with tight punchy lows. It has a very open and clear top end chime giving that gives the amplifier that rich sustaining tone.

The Retro removes the High end fizz and the rather brittle distortion characteristic which is the most common complaint levelled at Mesa amplifiers. Improvements in such as a crystal clear top end with more extension and clarity when used clean. When using the overdriven settings the valves combined characteristics provide a warm sustaining sound with plenty of upper harmonics with excellent projection on solos.
