General Electric made 5840 original USA made valve branded CEI which was part of GE. This is a special quality version of the EF732 pentode. These high-quality sub-miniature pentode are well known for their extremely low noise and low microphonics and are used in valve microphones.

The 5840 valve is currently used in Telefunkens current production models of the AK-47mkII and ELA M 260

5840 is electrically similar to the AC701K which was used in such microphones as the Neumann M-49. They have very low noise and produce a very refined sound, hence why many manufactures are now using this valve.

Our stock comes in the original CEI box.
