Watford Valves has Cryogenically treated some of the more popular and best sounding Tube Amp Doctor valves. This process makes a permanent change and the benefits do not deteriorate over time or upon return to operating temperature, it changes the whole way the vacuum tube performs. The biggest benefits I have found has been a dramatic improvement in dynamic range. Bass response has been clearer with reduction in microphonics. The soundstage is bigger with more detail with a big reduction in the noise floor. The really most starling fact has been how the valve operates under saturated and overdriven conditions in guitar amplifiers. The distortion is smoother with less hardness and is musically pleasing to the ear.
The TAD 12AX7 7025S Cryo is TAD reproduction of the legendary original Mullard ECC83.

The valve features Mullard style dual plates which are spot welded and follow the same ladder plate structure as the classic design. It has thick mica spacers and rugged mechanical construction to prevent microphonics and lower mechanical noise.

The 7025-S delivers harmonically rich complex tone with excellent mid-range warmth. Sound wise
It is very close to a combination of the Mullard ECC83 and RCA 7025. The top end has that classic Fender Tweed bite with a clear response with punchy clearly defined bass.

Under full distortion, the valve provides a nice even balanced overdrive with no fizz and a nice punchy sustain. This valve is great recreating that classic vintage tweed era tone, which is particularly suited to Fender amplifiers.

The Cryo treatment transforms the top end of this valve giving it a nice open transparency and added bite. The valve breakup is clear and smooth with nearly all of the midrange mush being removed by the Cryo treatment. You will notice more clarify and definition in both clean and overdriven modes. The distortion is smoother with a tightening of the bass frequencies.

This valve is has a great combination of punch and clarity and is ideal for that tweed era tone.
