Two Legendary Distortions all In One Box that is what you get with the Keeley DS9 Distortion.

Take the famous Ibanez SD9 Sonic Distortion and the Boss DS1 Distortion, put then all in one box and the result is the Keeley DS-9 Distortion.

These are very similar styles of distortions. The DS1 pedal had more gain because it has the added transistor gain stage. The SD9 pedal had a higher bass output that made tons of famous players happy because there was no low-end cut off.

The SD9 had some drawbacks, It suffered from low output volume as it lacked the transistor gain stage and it suffered from limited tone control.

The DS1 provides a great Marshall distortion which also provides a great hard rock sound. The Keeley DS-9 Distortion combines the two boxes via a toggle switch. The toggle controls a relay that moves circuit elements around to give you accurate recreations of those pedals. Keeley provides a bass cut-off control to create new sounds by varying the amount of low end gain you want.

The unique element to this Keeley DS-9 Distortion is that it has a cut off control to allow players to blend between the low end gain response of the two pedals. The bass cut off region is now something you can experiment with. You can dial in some super low bass and gain like the SD or turn it up to cut bass deep like the DS (that keeps it tight and punchy). Turn the cut off control all the way up for an accurate bass response like the DS. Now you can fine tune your very low end gain and response so you get two classic distortion pedals in one.
