Brimar was part of STC group and founded in 1933 to manufacture American pattern valves for the British market. Valves were produced in the UK in various locations such as Foots Cray. In 1960 Thorn Electrical Industries acquired the Brimar cathode ray tubes and valve business from STC and in 1961 Brimar became part of the joint venture between Thorn and AEI to manufacture and sell valves and cathode ray tubes. Brimar valves were produced and sourced from various factories across the world in later years.
The Brimar 6V6GTY is one of the best balanced and fattest sounding 6V6 valves I have come across.

In small Fenders the valve has a rich detailed sonic quality and when the amp is cranked to the full the Brimars have a sweet smooth break up similar to the Mullard EL34 trademark sound.

The valve come in the original government boxes with the production dates from the early 1970s.The brown base is made from micanol due to its low loss. The grey or dark glass on the 6V6GTY is RF shielding which was sprayed on inside the glass. So the GTY was generally specified for Military and communication applications. These valves will simply blow away all modern day 6V6GT types and are amongst the best sound new old stock valves made. We have matched on plate current and output comes in dual matched pairs or quads. No single currently available of this item.
