The Tung-sol reissue valves are produced by the Sovtek Corporation to high standards at their reflector plant in Russia. These are recreations of some of the most popular Audio and guitar valves and they also produce some original designs under the Tung-Sol name such as the KT120. These valve are used by original equipment manufactures the work over for their sound quality and reliability.
The Tung sol KT66 is a Russian valve that has a glass body that does not follow the traditional shape of the original GEC design. The valve has a slightly shoulder shaped design as per the photo.

The valve provides a nice warm open top end with a very well rounded bass response. The midrange is less pounced than the original KT66 and the Tung sol does not sound sharp or tinny like the Chinese item at the top end.

The valves have a nice overall balance and have more detail and character than a 6L6GC. The valve has a nice distorted sound which I found better than the Chinese KT66.The audio performance of this valve is also nice and easy to listen to and again an improvement over the Chinese item. So it is clear that the Tung sol is a clear winner and a great option in all 6L6GC and KT66 amps such as Marshalls and Cornellís.

One word of warning if you amplifier has the Fender Style valve clips that hold the valve firm by griping the bass then you will need to remove these as they do not fit .

If you are thinking of running this item in the vintage and modern then please take note that the Vintage Modern Marshall runs the negative grid bias at between -62 to-64 vdc. You will need a tech to adjust your amplifier.

These are available in matched pairs and quads.
