Watford Valves has cryogenically treated some of the more popular and best sounding Mullard valves. This process makes a permanent change and the benefits do not deteriorate over time or upon return to operating temperature, it changes the whole way the vacuum tube performs. The biggest benefits I have found has been a dramatic improvement in dynamic range. Bass response has been clearer with reduction in microphonics. The soundstage is bigger with more detail with a big reduction in the noise floor. The really most starling fact has been how the valve operates under saturated and overdriven conditions in guitar amplifiers. The distortion is smoother with less hardness and is musically pleasing to the ear.
These are the original Mullard ECC82 M8136 CV4003 which is the special military long life ECC82 that was specially designed for the British forces.

These valves are unique in construction as Mullard were the only factory to use a box plate anode construction and were also made to the highest electrical specification.

The valve produces the most detailed mid-range response of any ECC82 type ever made. This trademark sound has led many audio reviews to state that this is the best of its type ever made.

The valve has a super warm sound with plenty of mid-range detail. Indeed in our test reports the female vocal and string sections were simply stunning. The Cryo treatment enhances an already remarkable valve by giving it more presence attack and dynamics, which make this valve the first choice for high end application.

2) Balanced -matched triode sections for Phase splitter, Audio & Tube microphones

All Balanced preamp valves are Dynamically Drive tested under real working condition and are matched on dB gain. They also have passed the following tests:
