The Mullard Radio Valve Co. Ltd was founded in 1920. In 1923,to meet the huge consumer demand in electronics Mullard entered an agreement with Philips of Holland and by 1926 Philips bought Mullard and established one of the greatest valve manufacturing companies in world history.

They developed many iconic valve such as the ECC83, EF86, EL34,EL37, EL84, GZ34 and GZ37.These are regarded as the best valves of their type ever made and original Mullard items are high prized by Musicians Broadcasters and Audiophiles the world over due to their sound quality. Original Mullard GZ37/CV378 which simply the best rectifier ever made and has exceptionally long life and was used in mainly military applications.

The GZ37/CV378 is used in countless high end audio amplifiers and these are used in the AUDIO NOTE ONGAKU. The Mullard has superb internal construction with a brown Bakelite base.

These valves come to us direct from the UK Ministry of Defence to us in original white Government Boxes. Most of our stock has the print CV378 only which was the Nato Common valve number. This valve is very rare now and impossible to source especially one like these that were made at the Mullard Blackburn plant in the 1960s, they feature a brown base and "O" getter ring
